GIMP# 0.10 released

From a warm and humid Netherlands (30 Celcius indoors rightnow) I would like to announce GIMP# 0.10! Highlights from this release:

  • GIMP# can now play 30 % of my testset of 200+ Photoshop action files. Next stop (GIMP# 0.11) will be 40 % :)
  • i18n was added. GIMP# is now also available in Italian, Russian and (partly) Dutch
  • A new filter called Fragment was added. This is an exact clone of the Photoshop effect with the same name

A special thanks goes to Massimo Perga (i18n code, Italian translation) and Alexandre Prokoudine (Russian translation) for their great contributions.

Planning GIMP# 0.10

After releasing GIMP# 0.9 last week (including win32 installer, thanks to Massimo Perga!) it’s now time to look ahead at 0.10. This release will have two goals: Max is working hard on getting i18n into the next release. This means that we will at least get an Italian (congrats to their football team) translation :) I’m busy at getting the number of playable Photoshop actions up to 30 %. Yesterday I already implemented parsing of older action files and I expect to be able to spend quite some time on hacking this week. That could mean that this time we will have a very short release cycle if both goals are met before the end of July.

Last night we released GIMP# 0.9. Highlights for this release:

  • Framework for playing Photoshop actions. Right now this plug-in can play about 20 % of my random set of action files.
  • New plug-in to generate Raindrops
  • Port of Forge plug-in
  • New Blur Average plug-in (Photoshop clone)
  • New Pointillize plug-in (Photoshop clone)
  • New DifferenceClouds plug-in (Photoshop clone)
  • GIMP# plug-ins can now be called non-interactively, for example from within a script-fu
  • Support of Drag and Drop in Picture Package for swapping images inside the preview area
  • More unit tests (currently about 200)
  • Many bug fixes and smaller improvements

The win32 installer will follow within a few days as soon as we have resolved the remaining issues.
